Here is a very brief overview of the process involved in buying a house in the UK.

Step 1 - Initial Contact with your solicitor

  • Contact your solicitor with your Money Laundering documents and initial payment so that they can open a file and start the searches.
  • Give the details of your solicitor to the estate agents. They will then send the relevant details to your solicitors.

Step 2 - Speak to your mortgage advisor

  • Let your mortgage advisor know that your offer has been accepted. He can chase the surveyor to attend the property.

Step 3 - Receive paperwork

  • Read replies to enquiries, report on title on search results. Receive documentation to sign and agree a moving date with all parties.

Step 4 - Moving Day!

  • Money is received by the Seller's solicitors. Receive a call from the solicitors or estate agent to tell you the keys are available to be picked up! Now your fun begins.
